Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is 12 mm anti-slip phenolic birch plywood?
It’s a birch plywood sheet bonded using Weather & Boil Proof (WBP) adhesive, featuring a mesh-patterned phenolic film on one side (for grip) and a smooth phenolic film on the reverse.
What kinds of projects is this board ideal for?
Perfect for applications that need slip resistance and durability: trailer bases, external walkways, farm buildings, ramps, steps, and high-traffic interiors.
Is this material resistant to moisture and corrosion?
Yes — the WBP core prevents de-lamination in humid or wet conditions, and the phenolic film (both mesh and smooth faces) helps protect against moisture. That said, the wood itself will absorb water.
How does the anti-slip mesh face perform in wet or slippery conditions?
The textured mesh surface provides extra grip, reducing slip risk when wet or underfoot traffic. It’s especially useful where safety underfoot is important.
What about strength and support — is 12 mm thick enough?
The 12 mm thickness gives a solid balance: enough rigidity for many uses (floors, walkways, trailer decking) while staying more manageable in weight vs much thicker boards. Support and span still need to be considered in structural applications.
Can I cut, drill, or machine this board without damaging the finish?
Yes, though care is needed. Use sharp tools with good tooth count. After cutting or drilling, it’s important to seal exposed core or edges to preserve moisture resistance. Mesh side trimming especially benefits from precision.
Does the phenolic film surface require extra finishing or coatings?
The manufacturer-applied phenolic films are already durable and protective, particularly on the faces. Only exposed edges or drilled holes usually need additional protection (edge sealing paint etc.) to maintain performance.
What sheet sizes are available, and is custom cutting offered?
Standard sizes include 8×4 ft (≈ 2438×1219mm), 4×4 ft, 4×2 ft, 2×2 ft, and 2×1 ft. There is also a larger 10×5 ft size in this 12 mm thickness. Custom cutting services are available to suit your project size.
How should I store, transport, and install this plywood for best performance?
Store the sheets flat, off the ground, in a dry, covered location. During transport or handling, avoid bending or dropping. When installing, ensure edges are sealed & take care over support spacing to avoid deflection.
Are trade prices, bulk discounts or “sales team” support available?
Yes — for bulk orders or trade customers, special pricing is available. Contact our sales team to get quotes, check availability, and discuss delivery options.
