Cutting a panel width way:
To cleanly cut a panel across its width we recommend using a sharp saw to cut through both the slats and the felt backing.
Cutting a panel length way:
Cutting a panel lengthways can be easily achieved by using a craft knife or similar.
A sharp knife is essential to achieve a clean cut.
There are three different options when it comes to installing SlatPanel® panels.
1. Glue the panel directly onto the wall
Using a strong construction glue or grab adhesive apply a generous amount to the reverse of the felt backing and place onto your wall.
2. Screw the panel directly onto the wall
Panels can be screwed directly into your wall using a minimum of 9 screws per panel at 200mm intervals across the width and 800mm intervals down the length of the panel.
We recommend using black screws for a seamless installation.
If installing onto ceilings, be sure that all screws are fixed into the ceiling joists.
If installing onto plasterboard then be sure to use the correct fixings to ensure a secure mounting.
Apply screws directly through the felt backing into your wall.
3. Screwing the panels onto 45mm timber battens.
For maximum sound absorption we recommend mounting the panels onto a 45mm timber batten framework fixed to your wall.
By placing a good quality acoustic insulation such as Rockwool in the void space between your wall and the panel will achieve Class-A sound absorption.
We recommend coating the slats of the panel with a protective finish such as a quality wood oil to help keep the natural look and feel of the wood.
Once treated a light dusting or vacuuming will help to prevent any gathering of dust.
If you decide to keep the panels untreated then periodically wiping them down using a dry cloth is all that’s needed to keep the panels looking in prime condition.
The acoustic felt backing used on these panels has been certified to “B – s1, d0” fire rating.
This means that in the event of a fire the panel’s smoke production is very limited and it does not produce flaming droplets.
