Frequently Asked Questions

What are these lid pins used for?

They are hinge pivot pins that allow the bin lid to open and close properly by fitting into the hinge brackets.

Will pins of size 55×15 mm fit my bin?

They’ll fit if your bin's hinge holes accept a 15 mm diameter pin and your hinge spacing is compatible — measure before ordering.

What material are these pins made from?

Generally UV-stable nylon or hard plastic that resists cracking, corrosion, and expanding/shrinking in varying temperatures.

Do they come with clips or retainers?

Usually they are sold as pins only. Retaining clips or caps are reused or purchased separately.

How do I install them?

Remove the old pin, align lid and bracket holes, insert new pin fully until flush or tab locks in place.

Are they weather-proof?

Yes — high-quality pins are designed to resist UV, moisture, and typical outdoor conditions without deterioration.

Can I reuse my old pins?

Only if they’re undamaged and still fit snugly — otherwise, replacement is safer for secure fitting.

How long should these pins last?

Under normal usage and conditions, they can last several years (5–10+ years).

Can these pins work for metal bins?

Typically for plastic wheelie bins. Metal bins may need metal pins or different sizing.

How to choose the correct pin size?

Measure your original pin’s length and diameter, and check hinge hole width & bracket spacing before selecting.
